Organistional Structure
The Cayman Islands Law Society is a non-profit association registered as a limited company pursuant to s80 of the Companies Law (Revised). Membership is open to all attorneys-at-law admitted to practice in the Cayman Islands. The Society currently has over 300 members. Attorneys from virtually all of the law firms practicing in the Cayman Islands are members.
The Cayman Islands Law Society is a member of the International Bar Association and the Commonwealth Lawyers Association.
The executive of the Cayman Islands Law Society consists of a President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary. The current President is
Charles
Jennings, senior partner of
Maples and Calder.
James Bergstrom, partner of
Ogier is the Vice President and
Alasdair Robertson, a partner of Maples and Calder currently serves as Secretary
and Treasurer.
The executive report to and liaison between the Society and the membership is through the Council. The Council consists of at least one member from each of the member firms.
