Application for Limited Admission
Relevant only for foreign counsel wishing to appear in Court as an advocate, an application for limited admission may be made, under section 4(1) of the Law, to a judge of the Grand Court. A judge has power to admit to practise as an attorney-at-law such person who, for the purpose of any specified suit or matter in regard to which the person being admitted, has been instructed, among other things, by an attorney-at-law in the Islands.
A person qualified in the United Kingdom or a Commonwealth jurisdiction shall be entitled to practise for the purpose of the suit or matter concerned but not otherwise. If limited admission is granted there is no requirement that such person pay the annual practising fee or be enrolled on the Court Roll.
