Membership is open to all persons who have been admitted as attorneys-at-law as per the memorandum and articles.  New Cayman Islands lawyers are encouraged to join the CILS upon their admission to the Cayman bar.

The Membership year runs from 1 January to 31 December.

The current membership fee is CI$50 pa.

Certificates of Good Standing as a Member of the Law Society are available from the Secretary for a fee of CI$75 (plus courier fees if applicable).

In order to keep membership details accurate Members are encouraged to provide the Secretary with any changes in their contact details.

 

Benefits of membership

The main role of the Law Society is to represent the interests of the profession, its members and member firms and to make representation on matters of concern to them. Additionally, it provides advice to the Cayman Islands Government and Monetary Authority on legislation and other matters that may affect the Cayman Islands.

How to become a member

Only such persons who are approved by the Council, who practice in the Cayman Islands as attorneys-at-law and who are not in the full time employment of the Government of the Cayman Islands are eligible for membership of the Law Society. The Council is charged with the duty of administration of membership.
